Ella James Chosen Blog Tour Character Interview

Hello all :) I'm today's stop in Ella's Blog Tour!! I've interviewed Julia from Ella's Stained Series, so sit back, relax, and get to know her a little better ;)

INTERVIEW:
Julia is sitting alone in a deep blue wing-backed chair in a richly decorated hotel suite. The curtains are pulled open to reveal snow-covered Alps, made whiter by the midday sun. Across the room from her, a fire crackles in a marble fireplace. This interview occurs sometime during the third Stained Series book, Chosen, which will be out in June. Based on her pursed lips and her clasped hands, it doesn’t look like we’ve caught her on a good day.

• How do you feel about your family, now that you’re an adult? Julia chews her lip for a second, her mouth slowly twisting into a scowl. “I think the whole situation is a bunch of crap,” she says. “I didn’t get to know my birth parents at all, because of The Three.” She presses her lips together again and inhales – a quick, deep breath, like the subject upsets her. “My foster parents, Suzanne and Harry – they’re gone, too. And I used to think it was my fault, but now I don’t. I can blame The Three, and I can blame Samyaza.”

How do you feel knowing that Samyaza is gone? She presses her lips together. “Good. I’m glad that I helped kill him.”

• What do you want from life? Julia laughs; it sounds sarcastic. “I just want to be able to live mine. I don’t want to be Chosen, I don’t want to be anything except for me. With Cayne.”

• If you were granted three wishes, what would you ask for? “The safety of my friends,” she says immediately. “And for everyone to just leave us alone. For things to be…in such a way that we could be left alone.” She rubs her head. Smiles a little. “I know it’s kind of corny, but I just want to live happily ever after with Cayne and have a normal life.”

• How did you fall in love? At first sight? Over a long period? Julia smiles, and for the first time in the interview, she looks genuinely happy. “Oh, it wasn’t at first sight,” she says, sitting up straighter. “I thought Cayne was hot, but I had to heal him on the spot because he’d gotten his butt kicked. And he didn’t even have the nerve to appreciate it!” She grins. “That jerk. He can definitely be a jerk, but I did fall in love with him. I think I fell a little bit in love when he handed me that sleeping bag. And a little bit more when I showed him how to drive. He wasn’t the greatest student, you know.” Another little grin. “From back at that first Chosen meeting place where we saw so many…so much death… I was leaning on Cayne. And I guess I have since then.”

• What parts of loving come easy for you? Hard? She shrugs. “Trust is hard, I guess. Caring about people is too easy.”

• When you walk into a room, what do you expect people to notice about you? Julia covers her nose with her hand, smiling. “I’ve always been self-conscious about my nose.”

• Describe yourself to me. She waves her hands. “No thanks. I can’t do that. I mean, I have long brown hair and brown eyes. What more can you say?” She winks. “Cayne thinks I’m hot.”

• Is one sense more highly developed than another? (Are you more visual, or audial, etc, or do you rely on the famous sixth sense?) Her eyebrows arch, and she gives a knowing look, as if to say Lady, you don’t know what you’re getting into. “I have a lot of famous senses. A sixth and a seventh…” She rolls her eyes. “You want one?”

• Did you turn out the way you expected? “I expected to be Suzanne and Harry’s daughter. So no,” she says bitterly. “Things didn’t turn out the way I thought they would.”

• What do you consider are your strengths? Julia sits back in her chair, stretches her arms, and makes a thoughtful face. She runs a hand through her hair and looks away. Then back. “Mmm, well I’m loyal. Is that a strength?” She wrinkles her nose. “People say it is, but aren’t most people loyal? What would be the opposite of that anyway? This…like, bitch, who stabs everyone in the back? Kay, Dizzy. ANYWAY. So I’m loyal.” She taps her pink All-Star; one of her legs is folded over her other. “I guess you could say that I’m adaptable. I’ve had a lot of practice at that. And maybe for a third think you could say I try to…I dunno…push forward. If I’ve done something I don’t like or whatever, I just move on. Try to do better. And if something bad happens, I try to work around it. I won’t let anybody stop me if I want something.”

• What do you consider are your weaknesses? She touches her worn hot pink shoe again. “Too-high maintenance.” There’s a beat of silence, where she looks like she’s thinking about something heavy. Then she meets my eyes. “Lately it seems like everything is a weakness. Something I feel like someone could use against me.” And she bites her lip again, and looks down at her lap.

• What are you most proud of about your life? “I’m proud that I went with my gut, eventually, and trusted Cayne. He’s a good person, and I think people who know him know that. I know how to forgive people and I have learned how to move on from things.” She shrugs. “Maybe when I’m older and I’ve done more things, there’ll be more to say.”

• What's the worst thing you've ever done? Why? She closes her eyes, and her mouth pinches. Her eyes open abruptly, and she pins me with a serious stare. “You could answer this two ways,” she says slowly. “And I guess how you do says something about who you are. Soo… What I say is, the worst thing I’ve ever done is spend time being upset and unhappy about things that I can’t change. ’Cause there’s a lot of things I can’t. And I think I’ll just leave it at that.”

• Describe your ideal mate. “Tall, dark, and Cayne.” She grins.

• What are you most afraid of? “Losing him.”

Well that's all I have for now. Thanks for stopping by Julia and Ella :)

Then she is sentenced to a summer of "protection" on her mother's private island. Not the Oprah Winfrey kind. This one has an astronomical observatory filled with scientists, including Logan Greer, a super hot, super infuriating planet-hunter. Hiding out from kidnappers has never been so boring... until suddenly it isn't anymore.
