Alone by Marissa Farrar Blog Tour Interview

Hello everyone!! I'm today's stop on Marissa's "Alone" Blog Tour. So sit back, relax and get to know a little more about this wonderful author :)

Alone

About the Book:
Give me the blurb for the book in 140 characters or less:

Serenity is caught in a violent marriage. When she meets a stranger, Sebastian, who is also a vampire, her life takes a terrifying turn.

Do you have a favorite character? Why is he/she/it your favorite?

Being asked to choose between Serenity and Sebastian is like being asked to pick a favourite child! I love them both for different reasons: Serenity for both her fragility and her strength, and Sebastian for how much he loves Serenity and also for his dark streak.

What do you hope readers will get from your book?

An emotional journey that will keep them on the edge of their seat.

About the Author:
What/Who inspires you?
Hearing success stories of other indie authors always inspires me to keep pushing to do better, to write more, and always work as hard as I can.

Hardest aspect of writing? Best/Easiest?

The easiest aspect of writing is the idea process. If anything, I have too many ideas and I have to reign myself in to focus on one or two projects. That probably ties in with the hardest part as well, which would be staying focused. Too often those shiny new ideas pop up and try to tempt me away from what I’m currently writing.

Who is your writing hero?

Stephen King will always be my writing hero, as unoriginal as that may be. I grew up reading his books and I still love them now. For an author to span so many years and still be writing great fiction is such an inspiration to me. I hope I’ll be doing the same thirty years from now.

About the Future:
What’s next for you?
As I alluded to earlier, I have a couple of projects in the pipeline. I have a dark fantasy novel called ‘Underlife’ finished and waiting for edits, which I plan to have out this August. I’m also writing the fourth book in the ‘Serenity’ series, ‘Dominion’, and a young adult novel which is a spinoff of the ‘Serenity’ series called ‘Enchanted’.

One outrageous goal for the future?

To have written and published twenty novels by the time I’m thirty-five (two and half years from now).

Do you have any advice you'd like to share with other aspiring writers?

Write all the time. Carry a notepad around with you so you can even write when you’re on the go. Get involved with other writers and ask for critiques. Grow a thick skin. Oh, and get a subscription to www.autocrit.com. That site has done more for my writing than anything else!

Randomness:
Sweet or salty?

I love all food (much to my bathroom scale’s dismay) but if given the choice between a packet of crisps and a piece of chocolate cake, it would be the cake every time.

Beach, plains or mountains?

I love the beach. I think I’m cold-blooded, so anywhere I can soak up some warmth sounds good to me.

Online, letters or in person?

Online. I’m always at my computer. If I need to send something by snail mail, I put it off and put it off because I can’t be bothered to go to the post office. If I’m with someone in person, it means I’m not doing any work!

Ebook or print?
Both! I have a kindle (which I love) but I still regularly read paperbacks. I do a lot of my reading in the bath which isn’t too compatible with electrical equipment!

Thanks so much for hosting me!
