Who is Shadow?
Shadow is an avenging angel, and like most angels, he is gorgeous. He has intense blue eyes which darken when he is angry. His hair, a shade lighter than jet black, is slightly on the long side, and while untamed, always looks naturally well placed. His wings, when not concealed in his back, extend to double his height. They are white and luminesce in a way which makes them appear like they are covered in raindrops, and when fully extended, surround his body in a soft glow. Shadow can be arrogant, egotistical, annoying and conceited, but he loves Samantha with all of his heart and would do anything for her. And despite his faults, she loves him back just as deeply.
1. Describe yourself to me. Tell us a little about yourself?
I’m known as Shadow. I am an avenging angel, which means that I avenge the death of those who have died by someone else’s hands. I was sent to Mystery Falls to carry out an assignment. I did not mean to cross paths with Samantha. To be honest, I was supposed to ensure that we never met. But… due to my own arrogance and selfishness that was one order I failed to follow. And I’m glad that I did.
2. How do you fall in love? At first sight? Over a long period?
I think it would be safe to say at first sight. From the very first time I saw Samantha, I knew I had deep feelings for her, feelings which I knew I was not supposed to have, that I didn’t expect to feel, but couldn’t prevent. The more time I spent near her, the stronger those feelings became. I love her with all my heart and there is nothing I wouldn’t do for her. I have to be with her, that much I know is certain. And no matter what it takes, I will make it happen.
3. What do you consider your special talent?
I’m not sure if you would call it a special talent, but I have the ability to manipulate people’s thoughts and behavior. All I have to do is form a thought in my own mind of how I would like someone to respond to a certain situation, and then I project that thought so it becomes theirs. I should point out that it only works on humans and only when I am in their presence. Oh! And before you ask, yes I have used that ability on Samantha, once without her knowledge, and once with. But please don’t ask me to explain anymore. It’s kind of a sore point, because on neither occasion, was she particularly thrilled about it.4. What are you most proud of about your life?
In my human life, there was not much I could say I was proud of. At a time when they needed me the most, I abandoned my family in search of a better life. However, things didn’t turn out the way I had hoped. Due to my own stupidity and cockiness, I ended up murdered. Since I became an angel, I have tried to carry on with integrity and honor. I’d like to think that it hasn’t all been a waste; that in part, I’m succeeding.5. Describe your ideal mate.
My ideal mate...? Hmm... I’ll need to be careful how I answer this. Let‘s start with her appearance. She would have to have long flowing hair, preferably blonde, soft hazel eyes, and a great smile. She would have to be strong-willed, able to stand up to me when the need arises, and be forgiving of my faults. She would have to have a kind heart and love me unconditionally. Yeah! I think that pretty much sums up Samantha.
6. What are you most afraid of? What is your greatest fear?
Losing Samantha! Losing us! She is my world, and without her, I would no longer want to exist.7. What do you most value in your friends?
Loyalty! Trust! Integrity!
8. On what occasions do you lie?
It is imperative that my true identity is kept from the human world, so I guess in a sense, I lie when I pretend to be human, which would be most of the time. Apart from that, I try to maintain my integrity but circumstances can be tough and it’s far from easy.9. Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
When Samantha and I first met, she would constantly ask me questions which I was not in a position to answer. Because I didn’t want to lie to her directly, I would often respond with, “I can’t tell you that!” or “I can’t answer that!” It drove her crazy, but at the time, I didn’t feel like I had any other choice. I was burning inside, not being able to tell her the truth.
10. What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Perfect happiness! Hmm… I guess it would be to be able to spend the rest of my existence with Samantha and not have to worry about her father’s determination to separate us. But... unfortunately, I don’t see that happening anytime soon.
