Being the daughter of a dragon slayer was never easy, especially when Leito discovers a dragon child injured in her father’s fields. Knowing the fate that will befall this child, she helps the boy escape before the hunt is upon him.
Leito realizes years later that no good deed goes unpunished and after the village offers her up as a sacrifice for her father’s actions against dragons, Leito must utilize all her knowledge and strength to outwit the dragon who aims to kill her. In this mythical tale, Leito is challenged mind, body, and soul as she learns more about the dragon world and the one creature who makes her question her fears and her heart. This book contains mature subject matter and is intended for an older audience (16+).
INTERVIEW with Cillian:
• How do you feel about your family, now that you’re an adult?
My father’s a megalomaniac and I suspect my sister is a sociopath so you could say my feelings for them are less than lukewarm.
• What, in the outside world, is preventing you from getting it?
My family cannot stand me but they also are so possessive that they will not leave me be. I have a duty as the son of the Voxroi but I would give it up in a heartbeat if I could.
• What must happen before you overcome this?
Well, my father’s death would help the process along quite nicely.
• If you were granted three wishes, what would you ask for?
I large castle far from any dragon dens, especially Incendio.
A lifetime supply of wine.
The power of invisibility, which could be very useful in a bind.
• In your relationship with others, how are you different with family than you are with friends? Why?
Well, for one I don’t have a seething hatred for my friends the way I do for my family. I love my friends; I’d do a great deal for them even though I have that self-seeking voice in the back of my mind that urges me to mind my own business most of the time.
• How do you fall in love? At first sight? Over a long period?
With my current love interest it was gradual; I played my cards close to my chest before I made my intentions known.
• What parts of loving come easy for you? Hard?
None of it is easy considering who I fell in love with. I can’t really tell anyone about our relationship.
• When you walk into a room, what do you notice first? Second?
My reflection . . . ha! I jest. I tend to notice the available wine and/or ale.
• Describe yourself to me.
Handsome, wise, witty, a joy to be around. . . I love this, talking about myself is always so pleasurable. I am also rather passive and have an easy manner. I’m a lover, not a fighter. That I leave to Aidan.
• Did you turn out the way you expected? The way your parents predicted?
Ha, I should say not! I think I’m the furthest thing from what my father predicted. Luckily my sister can take on any roles I have failed to fill.
• What is one physical attribute you are proud of?
In human form, I have to say my physique. As a dragon, I have to say my red shading is rather attractive, even if it is similar to two individuals I detest.
• What's the worst thing you've ever done? Why?
Depends on who you ask. I suppose it would be not being a good enough friend to Aidan, though I would never tell him that. Wonderful! Now I am starting to sound like a sentimental sod.
• Describe your ideal mate.
Someone who can be compassionate without others taking advantage of them. Someone intelligent but does not need to prove to the world how clever they are. Confidence is always an attractive trait and being easy on the eyes doesn’t hurt either.
• What's the most important thing in your life? What do you value most?
The freedom to do what I want, be who I want, and live where I want. I value my freedom above all else.
• What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Beating Aidan in a fight, he didn’t make it easy I can assure you.
• What or who is the greatest love of your life?
I do not think they would want me to mention them. We are very private about our affections for each other.
• Which living person do you most despise?
My father.
• What is the quality you most like in a woman?
Bravery. I enjoy a female who can be a bit rebellious and go against the grain.
• Whose are your heroes in real life?
I suppose it would have to be Donovan. He managed to escape Incendio and also established a safe place for other dragons to take refuge in.
• What is your motto?
“Live and let live.”
