Clayton Liotta Children's Books

I have read a few of the author's books, so I'm going to condense them into one post for ease in reading about them :)

Synopsis:
“The House At 25 Clear View Drive!” is a charming story about a young boy who anxiously awaits the arrival of new neighbors moving in across the street. Rumor has it that they have a boy his own age? It’s sure to bring back many memories and the child in us all...

My thoughts:
This was a great little story about patience and understanding. I love the anticipation that the main character experiences while waiting to make a new friend. The illustrations made visualizing the story easy and bring some of the "flatter" scenes to life. The surprise at the end and the character's reaction shows that the author wants children to understand there can be a positive reaction to something that doesn't go as planned.

Synopsis:
“When Verdell Comes To Visit!” is a charming story about a young boys who receives a visit from his old friend Verdell! Not always the easiest of houseguests, Verdell is full of surprises! It is sure to bring out the child in us all...

My thoughts:
Throughout this book the house guest is wanting things done another way, all the while the main character tries his hardest to be accommodating for his "friend." I love how the author portrays a typically "scary" being to children and shows them that they may not be so scary after all. Again, the pictures really bring this story to life.

Synopsis:
“Up A Tree With Chicken Soup” is a charming story about the wonder of a child’s vivid imagination. Follow a young boy as he goes out in search of adventure, with Chicken Soup of course. Is it real or imaginary??? You be the judge... It is sure to bring out the child in us all...

My thoughts:
What adventures you can go on in a tree with a thermos of soup! Oh, the animals you can meet... I enjoyed the imaginative story line in this book. The author takes a simple task of finding an adventure to go on and mixes it with the generosity of the main character. I loved the caring nature of the main character and appreciate the "lesson" that the author brings into play with the sharing of the soup.

Synopsis:

"I Thought I Saw A Dragon Late Last Night" is a Charming story about the wonder of a child's vivid imagination.

Follow a young boy as he goes in search of an elusive Dragon. Is the Dragon real or imaginary ???

You be the judge...It is sure to bring out the child in all of us.

My thoughts:
I love the adventure that the author takes us on in this book. The main character is faced with the challenge of finding a dragon that he thought he saw in the middle of the night. Oh the imagination of children! The illustrations depicted in this book create scenes so vivid that you can't help but keep imagining other variations of the book. I love the simple format, as it sparks the imagination which continues on long after the story has been read :)
