The Childe/Dark Days by C.A. Kunz Blog Tour Interview/Giveaway

THE CHILDE Synopsis:
Cat Colvin
Average teenager?
Or something else entirely?

Cat Colvin is pretty much your typical run-of-the-mill teenager. Sure, she's taller than most girls, has a mane of fiery red hair that's impossible to tame, is left-handed, and her eyes are two different colors, but that's where the differences end . . . unless you include the minor detail of her slow transformation into a Childe.

High school can definitely be challenging, and for Cat it's no different. This is especially true when she's faced with the daunting task of trying to hide her budding Childe traits as they begin to reveal themselves at the most inopportune times. To make matters worse, her family is oddly dead set against Ryan, the boy she grows to like. But everyone has their secrets: is Ryan really what he seems to be, and what is Cat's family not telling her?

The Childe is the first book in this coming-of-age fantasy series which follows Cat's life through the twists and turns toward finding out whom and what she really is. Come and take the plunge with Cat into a world filled with mystery, biting humor, and the paranormal.

DARK DAYS Synopsis:
Surviving tenth grade is the least of Cat Colvin's worries.

Cat Colvin wants more than anything to just be an "average" teenager and blend in, but having found out the secret of her adoption has Cat questioning her entire life. Unfortunately, there are much deeper and darker secrets being withheld from her that may prove to threaten her very existence. Cat will be forced to make a choice: stay in Astoria and possibly endanger all that she loves, or flee and hide amongst her kind.

Friendships will be tested, family bonds will be tried, and even Cat herself will be pushed to her limits both emotionally and physically; all while trying to maintain a somewhat normal relationship with her boyfriend Ryan. What is actually going on in the quaint port town of Astoria, and are Cat and her loved ones prepared for the dark days that loom ahead? Find out in this continuation to the *"...thrilling, unputdownable story," The Childe.

INTERVIEW:
About the Book:
Give me the blurb for the book in 140 characters or less:

Carol and Adam - The Childe is a fun coming of age story with a supernatural twist.

Do you have a favorite character? Why is she your favorite?

Carol – Aww, I just read Adam’s answer. I personally love Elle. She grows in our books from shy and insecure to one kick-butt female.

Adam – My favorite character is Cat Colvin because not only is she a strong female lead character, but she’s also loosely based on my mom when she was younger.

What do you hope readers will get from your book?

Carol – First, to entertain, but there are life lessons sprinkled throughout that we hope will help our readers in their own lives.

Adam – Mom and I always strive to entertain with our writing (like most writers). We want to create easy reads that anyone can lose them self in. We also like to work life lessons into our stories and make our characters easy to connect with.

About the Authors:
What/Who inspires you?

Carol – My son inspires me. He comes up with so many unique and wonderful ideas that make me excited to write.

Adam – There are so many things that inspire me. My day job at Universal Studios constantly has me surrounded by creativity, and is always a source of inspiration. My mom also inspires me to always be better and to grow as a writer and storyteller. My favorite authors inspire me by making me love the worlds that they create, which in turn makes me want to develop worlds that have the same effect on others. Music inspires me as well because nothing gets you in the mood to write better than a good song.

Hardest aspect of writing? Best/Easiest?

Carol – Starting a chapter is the hardest for me but after the first few lines, my ideas just keep coming. There is nothing easy about two people (one male and one female of different ages) writing a book together. When we are finished with a book, we’re amazed how it flows so well.

Adam – Beginning a book is always the hardest aspect of writing for me. At the beginning I always have too many ideas and possible paths the story can take that it makes it hard for me to sometimes focus and just write. The best aspect of writing would have to be working with my mom and creating worlds that we enjoy spending time in with characters that we love. The easiest aspect of writing is…well I’m not sure if there really are any easy aspects. It’s not like every aspect is hard, but they all have their challenges.

Who is your writing hero?

Carol – Hmmm, Adam of course. Writing a book was on my ‘Bucket List’ and he knew it. Just over three years ago he came to me and told me we were going to write a book together. Of course, it hasn’t just been one book, and who knows how many C.A. Kunz will end up writing. All I know it’s been a wonderful journey and we have many miles to go.

Adam – My writing hero is J.K. Rowling because I just absolutely love her writing style, and will always be in awe of what she’s accomplished with her Harry Potter series (which just so happens to be my favorite series of all time). She is such an inspiration to me, and is one of the big reasons I wanted to become an author.

About the Future:
What’s next for you two?

Carol and Adam – Well, currently we’re working on the third novel in The Childe series, entitled Wicked Darlings, which is scheduled to be released this winter. We’re also finishing up the first book in our new young adult dystopian fantasy trilogy, entitled The Modified, which is scheduled to be released this fall.

One outrageous goal for the future?

Carol – To have our books on in every library the world. Hey, it could happen.

Adam – To have one of our novels (or series) made into a movie.

Do you have any advice you'd like to share with other aspiring writers?

Carol – Don’t wait until you’re my age to do something you really want to do.

Adam – The one thing I would say is that if you have a dream and a passion, never give up on it. Life is too short to not follow your dreams, and never listen to anyone that says “you can’t do it” because if you believe in yourself, you can do anything! (I know that this answer sounds cliché, but it’s the truth)

Randomness:
Sweet or salty?

Carol – Salty. I used to love sweets, but now for some reason I love salty over chocolate. Yeah, I know all of you think I have lost my mind. Maybe I have!

Adam – Sweet because I love dessert. It could possibly be the best part of any meal in my opinion.

Beach, plains or mountains?

Carol – Mountains because of the crisp cool air and wonderful scenery.

Adam – Beach because it’s probably the best place out of the three to read.

Online, letters or in person?

Carol – In person of course, love meeting people face to face.

Adam – I love meeting/chatting in person. There’s nothing better than face to face interaction in my book.

Ebook or print?

Carol – I have a Kindle, it’s easier to read on it since my accident. But I still love print books, the smell and the feel of holding it in my hand.

Adam – Though I do enjoy reading on the Kindle, I’d have to say that I still prefer the print book. There’s just something about holding the book in your hand that makes the reading experience more intimate for me. Plus the smell of books just makes me happy.

Author Bios:
Carol Kunz was born in New Ferry, England. Her interest in the supernatural was first sparked upon reading Bram Stoker's Dracula at the age of eleven. As a teenager, her fascination with the mythology behind vampires, werewolves and witches continued. Being an avid reader, Carol finds it easy to spend several hours wrapped up in a great fantasy novel.

Adam Kunz was born in Newport News, Virginia. Growing up, he was a huge fan of creature features and books about things that go bump in the night. When he's not busy writing, Adam enjoys his job at a certain theme park in Orlando, Florida as a décor consultant. This job brings him face to face with all sorts of nightmarish creatures, especially when he decorates the haunted houses for the park's annual Halloween event.

Carol and Adam currently reside forty-five minutes away from each other in the sunny state of Florida.
